We are excited to welcome another talented addition to the Commercial Properties team! Mark McColgan has joined us as the Business Operations Specialist.
As a way to get acquainted, we asked Mark a few questions…
Tell us a bit about your background.
Born and raised in the greater Saint John area, I am passionate about all things Saint John. I’ve played in the parks, I’ve floated on the river systems, I’ve immersed myself in the culture, and I’ve achieved a Business Degree. I am proud to call Saint John home, and consider myself very fortunate to have experienced a resurgence in the Uptown core. For the majority of my career, I’ve worked with small businesses to help them manage growth in this ever-evolving, competitive business environment. I have played a pivotal role in building businesses both as an employee, and as a business owner. As a result, I have developed a very unique skill set along the way. With more than 20 years in the workforce I’ve executed projects at almost every level of a business.
What do you like to do in your free time?
When I am not working, you can find in the woods. Long distance trail running is a passion of mine, and occupies most of my free time. When I am not training you can find me around town eating delicious foods, drinking great coffee, enjoying some art and culture, or adventuring in the woods with my pup.
What excites you about working at Commercial Properties?
The more I learn about CPL the more excited I get. Noticeably, CPL is meticulous in their recruiting, and have built a culture of success. I’m excited to inject my unique skills and experiences into a team of passionate individuals who are working together towards a common goal.
Which Commercial Properties building is your favorite and why?
Just one? Sorry, but I have two. Centerbeam Place, and the Red Rose Tea Building. With Centerbeam Place I really like the unique layout, which occupies an entire city block, and the fact that everything is connected with a beautiful outdoor courtyard. Also, you can’t beat that location right in the center of uptown! I may be a little biased when it comes to the Red Rose building, as this is where the CPL offices are, but with that said, I really do like the rich history that comes along with this building. In the retrofit they did a great job preserving all the old brick and support beams, and left them exposed for all the tenants and visitors to enjoy. Also, you can’t beat that view of the harbor!
