We are excited to welcome another talented addition to the Commercial Properties team! John Oxley has joined us as a Project Manager.
As a way to get acquainted, we asked John a few questions…
Tell us a bit about your background!
I grew up in the Saint John area and after High School spent time in Ontario in London, Toronto and Ottawa before returning in the late 90s. When I moved back I worked for NBTel (now Bell Aliant if you aren’t that old) and a small dot com for a combined 10 years. In the mid 2000s I left the IT sector and went to work for Fluor, a multinational engineering firm, here in Saint John supporting Irving Oil projects. I also have a wife, 3 sons and a Bernese mountain dog. Life’s busy but good.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I really enjoy being outdoors. In the winter I LOVE to ski. I wish it would start snowing November 1st and stop sometime in early April. In the summer I am very involved as a coach and volunteer at the Kennebecasis Rowing Club in Rothesay. And if I get the chance I try getting out on my Mountain bike whenever I can.
What excites you about working at Commercial Properties?
Having worked for a number of companies over the years, I really like that it is a small, flat organization. It really gives everyone the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way and be accountable for what they do. It feels like we all have the ability to make a positive contribution to the organizations success.
Which Commercial Properties building is your favorite and why?
In my last job I was a tenant at Centerbeam for a while which I really liked but I would have to say the Red Rose Tea building. Before working here I always liked the look of it from the outside. But I have to say working inside is even better. I like the bright open workspaces and the great views in all directions. Plus it is great being up town where everything is in walking distance.
